Title: A big puzzle solved and a laugh on myself.
Post by: FredDooolie on April 23, 2010, 10:07:21 am
Ever since I got my MO I've felt that something wasn't quite right. What I play sounds OK but just a little bit off. Everything is sorta flat (sharp?). Like it's not quite in tune. However when I play the same music a little "up" on the fingerboard and cover the holes in a little different order it sounds great; just right. So I played a scale into my chromatic tuner and things fell into place. This oc is in the key of G*. DUH! My ears expect things to be the key of C! Now I know why my banjo sounds weird too. Yay! It's not me after all! Well, I can play in C on this. I just have to finger it a bit differently.
:o  OH NO! A LEARNING EXPERIENCE!  :o

All day I've been trying to figure out how to blow so it sounds right. It WAS sounding right all along. My oc isn't off key; my brain is.

* Yes, the website clearly stated this but I'm not a musician. I play by ear. I don't know from keys. A key is something that you open your door with.

hahaha :)

Yeah, you'll be able to play music in any key.  I guess G is the easiest, but C and D are easy too... and so it Bb i think.
