Title: Mountain Ocarinas Locator - Google Maps
Post by: Cliff on December 18, 2008, 03:28:26 pm
Where has your MO been?

Put a marker on the map to show us.

Please, don't change the title or description of this.

To add a marker, login with a gmail/google account.

On the map click the "edit". Then click "add a placemark"in the upper-left corner of the map (see attached pictures).

Drag it to your location. Enter a brief description for the place. Then, click done and save button above.

Here's the map:

Then, click done and save button above.

Awesome, Cliff!

Thanks for setting this up!

Should we post here when we add our new location(s)?

Yes. I think a response to this thread with a photo and/or any details on your added location would be great. Thanks!

I posted two places.
Pics taken on the border with Switzerland:

No pic of the other.

Please tell me if the pics I posted are too big and I'll edit the post with a shrinked edition.

Hey, maybe you do have somewhere that cool...  Lots of folks have never been to Pennsylvania.

Yeah, but just not in my immediate vicinity.  I keep my eye out for anything cool when we're on trips, though. ;)

It would be nice if each user could pick it's own marker colour. So I can see for example where Dan has played at a glance. Can that be done?

Hello,
I placed my self on the map.  I am in green with the black dot :)
Oh and btw I zoomed down to 71 Hoskins and all I saw was trees no buildings.  Are you guys camoflauged?
Keep on MOCin.

Actually we aren't camouflaged, but we are 500 feet underground. Even though the ocarinas could survive a nuclear blast, Karl probably wouldn't  ;D This is part of our risk management plan. Actually google isn't drawing the address in the right place. Look for the nearest building south of the pin.

I put my home location in as Riverbank, Ca. I am a truck driver now and my ocarina has been all over the US. I have over 300 photos in my computer now of scenery shots I like to describe as thru the windshield.
Some were taken outside of the truck like the ones from the top of Cabbage Patch grade on I84 in Oregon. I have a bunch I took driving east on I70 thru Colorado in the winter. Such as thru Vale Co.  Some are just snow shots others are of rivers running next to snow covered mountain. None of them will fit thru a 256 kilobyte filter.  The smallest one I found was about 304 kilobytes. Sorry. Maybe I can resize a few for transfer to this site.

My Polycarb G and I had some high-flying adventures on the roller coasters at Hersheypark.  Unfortunately, I didn't think to have it out of my pocket (though very securely secured) until later at night, so the photo isn't great.  I shall pose for a better photo on one of the manlier coasters next time we go! ;D

Very fun, great!

Anyhow, unfortunately that doesn't prove that you played I have a bonnet trimmed with blue. I'd bet that you played another tune and are cheating on us!   ;)

I was playing around with a new smartphone and found this map among my Google Maps.
Surely there are lots of MOs out there not yet placed in the map!
So I thought I'd give this thread a bump.

OK, I entered the playground where I practise while supervising my daughter. (now with my clay traverse potatoes ;) but as soon as the mail arrives with my MOs.)
Interesting enough that in the whole ocarina-desert of northern germany there is another marker just around the corner and nothing else.

Having now seen the vincity of MO-HQ, I understand why you can build "loud" instruments ;)

OK, I added another marker.
I was in Denmark this february.
Noone there excpept us, so I went out to play in the heathland.
Despite the fact that it was totally flat, the circumstanding buildings produced a nice echo.

edit:
attached some photos of the "garden"
some areas reminded me of Hobbiton
...and I was not always playing the ocarina  ;)

I drive all 48 contiguous united states. Just grab a hand full of pins and throw them at the map. I have photos of many states. I got one recently of the dock in Gloucester Mass. where the movie "perfect storm" was filmed. I was across the bay from the actual dock at a frozen fish warehouse. I am in Texas right now just over the border from Louisiana. Drove here from Atlanta Ga where I delivered in Monroe Ga just outside Atlanta. Just pick a spot...I probably have ben there. Wait , I haven't been to North Dakota yet. But, I still have time.

Just added my home place. I didn't add my cottage's place because it's kinda close to my home place. Seems like I'm only one in Finland who has marked anything.

Just added my marker on the map as "Nik's Headquarters"  ;D
I'm in Brescia, a city near Milan, Italy.

So, this thread has been quiet for a long time. Way more MOs in Europe than I expected; not too many in South America. So I added another one for mine in Ecuador.

I had visited Argentina recently and carried my warmstone G with me.  My wife and I had climbed aa small mountain / big hill and played some hymns on the top after the climb.

The picture was taken in Villa General Belgrano, Argentina

My wife and I spent the month of September there.  We were able to talk to a lot of people and see several places while we were there.  I brought my warmstone G and my Chromatic harmonica on the trip with me and enjoyed playing both for people.  I just need to practice more.  :)
