I finally found a (donationware) reverb plug-in for Intel Macs.

Ambience http://magnus.smartelectronix.com/

I used it successfully with Audacity and uploaded a test vid to YouTube.  The result was decent - whereas the YouTube algorithms destroyed my recordings to which Gverb reverb had been applied, the YouTube vid using the Ambience reverb sounded pretty much like the original mp3 on my computer.  It doesn't work unless you have a stereo track, but you can duplicate your mono track and choose the "make stereo" option as an Audacity  workaround.  The current version of Audacity automatically installs Apple's AU MatrixReverb (which also requires a stereo track).  I tried a couple presets and they sounded OK on my computer, but I didn't try to make YouTube vids with them because Ambience has many more presets, including one I liked a lot, so I figured I'd just stick with Ambience.
