Your learning rate is impressive! If you go on like this we'll se you on television soon  Wink

Btw, that wheel is a beautiful piece of craft. And you seem to know how to use it!

Ha, ha! Thanks though.

The wheel is lovely isn't it? It is definitely one of my very favorite things. Smiley
I was extremely lucky to have an unexpected windfall at exactly the right time to be able to get one of the walnut ones. I am no expert but spinning is a deep joy for me, it is peaceful, contemplative as well as productive; it hardly gets better.  --(unless it's spinning to ocarina music!)

Yes that is a very nice looking spinning wheel.  Much nicer than the ones I have to use a w*rk.

Yes, I work in a yarn mill.  The spinning machines produces 72 spools of yarn at a time, at the rate of about 4000 to 5000 pounds a shift. It is a hot nasty place and I hate it, but that is life.

Sorry to hear that, Harp Player. Hope the rest of your life has some compensations.

So, when do we hear your version of "Doffin Mistress"?  Wink

I would say it will be a very long time because I have never even heard of that song.  Grin

 Good one! Bakfot! Grin

Ugh Harp Player, sorry to hear of your negative association!
I would be the first to say that there's rather a big difference spinning a handfull of cashmere on my personal wheel for fun than
making a living slaving away at a mill!
 But... your's definitely pays better!

I have no negatives about the kind of craftsmanship that it takes to make yarn by hand.  Their are many of the old skills that are slowly dieing in today's "modern" world.  I am glad that their are still people keeping the traditions and crafts alive.

If you think about it what % of people actually know how to make soap the old way?  That is just one example of the many skills that are about dead.
