Hey, Ubi! You're pretty good at the tenor! I wish i played that instead of the Baritone sax. I like its tone more.

I played bari in high school and loved it.  It was a beat-up old axe that belonged to the school, but it played so easily.  I had a beautiful Selmer tenor too, a gift for my 16th birthday.  Years later, after I was married and had kids and hit a financial rough patch, I sold the Selmer to raise enough money to pay my homeowner's insurance.  It broke my heart to do it, and I still regard it as one of the most foolish things I ever did, but I guess sometimes hard decisions have to be made, and I hadn't been playing it at all at that time.  The tenor in the video is only a few years old.  It was a gift from some friends in the UK and it's a very nice horn.  It's actually a lot easier to play than my Selmer was.  At some point I'd like to invest in a new mouthpiece with a brighter sound, but I really don't mind the old-fashioned mellow tone that much.  The main problem is that the sax is loud, much moreso than the ocarina, and I can't take it with me everywhere.  So practice is a problem.  I had real misgivings about uploading that video, because I hadn't played in a few months, but I figured, it's Youtube, not Carnegie Hall.  It is what it is.  I was just in the mood to play, and that song was in my head.

I have a soprano too, and at some point in the not-too-distant future I have a song in mind to upload.

I'd Love to play the Conn-Osax. It's aa cross of the english horn and Tenor sax. It's in-between the alto and tenor tones. Beutiful, and unique.

I had to look up that Conn O-sax -- very interesting.

Meanwhile, I needed another sax break, and some tunes cannot be shoehorned into single ocarina range.  This is one of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8R4Sv1jnCQM

All the huffing and puffing is a little embarrassing.  I haven't played the soprano in...a while!

edit: I felt like playing it on recorder too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiYkI3q7NiY

When the ProRange comes out...I'm all over it!

Another sax break.  This was one of my dad's favorite songs; he always wanted me to play it on sax.  It was later used as the theme music for the "Mike Hammer" TV series (a trumpet version, I think).  It's a tough nut to play on the sax.  Since I had the house to myself this week, I was able to put in some time practicing it, but it's still pretty straight-edge.  I lost count of the times I had to play that eighth-note cascade before I could get it right.  The MO version of this will have to wait for the ProRange...and you may be sure that this will be one of the first things I try to play on it.

Another tune I've wanted to play for ages.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRXuaVi9Sps

In case there's any doubt, the soprano sax takes a lot more air than any ocarina....

After several takes on ocarina, I gave up.  The blend of sounds just didn't work.  This song doesn't lend itself to much improv, so I just, well, played it.  The rhythm in the first few bars is a little shaky.

Another sax break: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2nqpiy2GS0

This would work well on MO, but not until we have a bit more range.  So it stays on my check list!

I still don't have the guts to play that uke!  I've been meaning to do this song for a while.  I can play it on MO, just about, but I have to say it feels a lot better on sax.

I haven't posted a non-ocarina video here in a long time.  I was going to play this on the MO. The G was the best fit for the key, but I didn't think the higher pitch worked for the song, and I was too lazy to transpose the track  (I think taking it down a fifth would have made it too muddy anyway).
